Creative Cabbage Head

Hint -Don't throw out your outer leaves of cabbage save them they make great decorations. This will last for a few days....soak the leaves in water in a clear bowl, add a candle or what ever you want to display!

Ever wonder what to do with the left over rice from last nights dinner? Well here is a yummy solution so it doesn't end up sitting in the fidge spoiling while you try and think of another meal to use it in as mine has in the past.

This was a childhood recipe my Mom used to make, it's one of those meals you just enjoy any time of day.

Here is what you need.
-about 4 cups of prepared rice (already cooked)
-Half head of fresh Cabbage
-Half of a yellow onion
- 1 or 1 1/2 lb (depends on how much you want to yield) breakfast sausage ( if pork doesn't agree with you use turkey it taste just as good)
-Garlic
- about 2 TBS of Soy Sauce
- Salt Pepper to taste

( Optional, and very good....garnish with La Choy, Chow mein noodles)

Here is what you need to know.

Cook thoroughly the sausage in a pan, Add diced onion until they are tender set aside save in grease.
in a wok or large pot fry your rice when it is nice and warm and even, add the sausage and onion, stir together.
next add the cabbage diced or chopped which ever you prefer into the rice and sausage mix, stir together.
Add your garlic, salt, pepper ( you may need to add a little water to steam the cabbage depending on how much grease you got from the sausage).
Cover with lid let the cabbage get tender to a wilt, keep tossing it so it cooks even.
Add the Soy sauce and stir, let the Soy sauce blend for about 3 Minutes.
Remove from stove, serve as is or with garnish.
